Week 1 – Happy Birthday, John Corbett Brady.

On August 24, 2011, at 3:47pm, we welcomed John Corbett Brady into the world. He is a healthy little boy, weighing in at 9lbs. 5oz. and measuring 21½” long. Erica and John did great throughout the delivery and we couldn’t have been happier to go home as a family on August 27th – only a few hours before Hurricane Irene hit our area. (Did we mention New Jersey, and much of the East Coast, also experienced an earthquake the day before John was born? We can't decide if it was a good sign or a very, very bad sign.)

Since last Wednesday, John has kept us on our toes and laughing all the time. We are learning so much about him every day; most of which has less to do with raising a baby and more to do with raising a baby BOY. For example, we’ve been peed on more times than we’d like to admit in the last 48 hours. John even demonstrated his special talent at his first doctor’s appointment (he did great!), where his performance had Papa cleaning up the floor, the walls, the chairs, and the doctor. Despite his propensity for urinating on strangers, John is a very sweet little boy. He is content, happy, quiet and very sleepy!  We are so grateful for his even temper as we settle into our new roles.
This week, John was able to meet his Pop-pop and Mema Geiselmann, Granny Brady (who traveled all the way to Madison just to meet him and make sure our home was stocked for our arrival in preparation for the hurricane - thank you SO much Granny!), Aunt Cathy and Uncle Michael Palamara, and Kelly and Quinn! In addition, the numerous phone calls, emails, and messages from friends and family were greatly appreciated. Thank you all!
We are new at blogging, but hope to make our predecessors (The Murillo Clan, The Chicago Bradys and The Lee Family Four) proud by updating this site weekly with the happenings of our baby boy.
For now, here are some photos of John’s first week out in the world…
